CSIR-NPL Recruitment 2026: The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research – National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL), New Delhi, has officially released its recruitment notification for 2026. CSIR NPL Recruitment 2026 Salary
Selected candidates will be placed under the Technical Cadre at Pay Level-02 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) matrix.

Pay Scale: ₹19,900 to ₹63,200

Starting Basic Pay: ₹19,900 per month

Total Monthly Emoluments: Approximately ₹44,428 per month (this includes Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, and House Rent Allowance calculated for a Class ‘X’ city like New Delhi).

CSIR-NPL Recruitment 2026 Educational Qualification
Candidates must satisfy the following minimum qualifications as of the closing date:

A pass in Class 10 / SSC / Matriculation with Science subjects, securing a minimum of 55% marks.

AND any one of the following:

An ITI certificate or national/state trade certificate in the relevant trade.

A National Apprenticeship Certificate (2 years) in the relevant trade.

A minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience in the relevant trade from a recognized institute or organization.

CSIR-NPL Recruitment 2026 Age Limit (as of June 30, 2026)

Minimum Age: Candidate age should have minimum 18 years.

Maximum Age: The maximum age should be 28 years.

Age Relaxation: Upper age limit relaxations apply for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen as per standard Government of India and CSIR norms.
CSIR-NPL Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The selection methodology is designed to evaluate both practical trade competency and general intellectual abilities.

Screening of Applications: Initial shortlisting based on eligibility documents.

Trade Test: Shortlisted candidates will sit for a practical trade test. This stage is qualifying in nature; only those who pass will be evaluated in the written examination.

Competitive Written Examination: A 150-question objective (OMR-based or computer-based) test split into three papers, with a total duration of 2.5 hours.

Paper I (Mental Ability Test): 50 questions | 100 marks | Time: 1 Hour | No Negative Marking.

Paper II (General Awareness & English Language): 25 questions each (50 total) | 150 marks | Time: 30 minutes per section | 1 negative mark for every wrong answer.

Paper III (Concerned Subject/Trade): 50 questions | 150 marks | Time: 1 Hour | 1 negative mark for every wrong answer.
